Vague 'X' post by Los Angeles Rams sparks conversation on Stetson Bennett's status
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Stetson Bennett has shown nothing but positive progress since returning to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason after missing the entirety of his rookie year due to undisclosed personal reasons.

But Bennett's current status has recently been called into question after a vague post from the Los Angeles Rams' official team account on "X" (formerly known as Twitter).

The Rams recently made a post captioned "QBs" that featured only starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and presumed backup signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo, who the team signed earlier in the offseason.

The social media post -- which could mean something or nothing at all -- triggered several responses. Many of those included questions about why Bennett was not included.

Nothing to this point would give any indication that Bennett is out of the fold or has backtracked at all, as he recently drew high praise from head coach Sean McVay.

“He’s done a great job being engaged in the meetings. We’ve had a lot of individual meetings up to this point," McVay said. I know (Quarterbacks Coach) Dave Ragone has really enjoyed his interaction with him throughout the first six days, if you will, with Monday through Thursday last week, and then now being through two days this week and so it’s been good."

He describes Bennett as having a "good look in his eyes" throughout offseason activities.

"I mean, he looks good. He’s had a good look in his eyes," McVay said. "He’s been attentive in the meetings and then I’m looking forward to next week to being able to get out on the grass with all of our players and Stetson being one of them.”

The Rams, contrary to the projections, did not select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. Whether or not that's a reflection of confidence in Bennett and Garoppolo for the future will remain to be seen.
